Description
Go from foundational container knowledge to production-ready Kubernetes expertise in just two weeks. This complete intensive bootcamp combines Week 1 and Week 2 for a fast, focused path to confident, efficient day-to-day operations in modern infrastructure.
Curriculum Schedule
- Week 1: Docker & Kubernetes Foundations | The first week provides or reinforces the foundations required to work efficiently with containers.
- Week 2: Kubernetes in Production | The second week tackles a vast array of techniques to improve the reliability of applications running on Kubernetes.
The two weeks can be attended independently or consecutively.
Overview of What You’ll Learn:
Week 1
Docker & Containers Mastery
- Running containers with Docker (foreground/background)
- Images, layers, tags, and building custom images
- Writing efficient Dockerfiles and using build cache
- Networking, multi-stage builds, and image optimization
- Containerized dev environments and Docker Compose
Kubernetes from Theory to Practice
- Core concepts: pods, deployments, services
- Cluster networking, service discovery, YAML best practices
- Using kubectl, k9s, namespaces, scaling, and logging
- Local development options and troubleshooting tools
Week 2
Day-2 Kubernetes Operations
- Sharing data: Volumes, Init Containers, ConfigMaps, Secrets
- Reconfiguration and restart strategies
- Healthchecks (3 types), Ingress, TLS, cert-manager
- Resource management, cluster quotas, and scaling
- Running batch/cron jobs, the metrics pipeline
Container & Cluster Security
- Network Policies for workload isolation
- RBAC, Roles, Service Accounts, and permissions
- Sealed Secrets and secure token handling
Managing Application Lifecycle with Helm & Stateful Apps
- Installing and managing apps with Helm
- Writing and refining Helm charts
- Helmfile, Tilt, and GitOps workflows
-
Persistent storage: PVCs, StatefulSets, and storage classes
Ideal For
- Engineers new to Docker and Kubernetes
- Self-taught devs looking to level up with formal training
- Teams migrating to containers and cloud-native apps
- DevOps professionals needing practical, production-grade K8s skills
- Engineers experiencing unexplained container behaviors and deployment pain
What’s Included
- 40+ hours of live, instructor-led instruction: The class is a live stream, meaning that students can (and are invited to!) ask questions at any time if they want clarifications or concrete examples adapted to the language or framework that they use.
- Unlimited lab time during the week of the class: Each student is provided with multiple Kubernetes clusters to reflect both on-cloud and on-premises deployment scenarios.
- Comprehensive exercises at the end of each day: We recommend that each student plans for about an hour per day to work on the exercises and labs.
- At least two hours of small-group mentoring and Q&A each week: The Q/A and mentoring sessions will be over a video platform like Zoom, with the teacher and (depending on group size) TAs who will also have production experience.
-
Certificate of completion: Certificates will be provided to each student upon completion of the bootcamp.
